What is ARFID?
ARFID stands for Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder — a condition where children (and adults) severely limit the foods they eat, often due to sensory sensitivities, fear of choking, or general food aversion.
Our app, ARFID: A Remedy For Intricate Diets, turns the challenge of exploring new foods into a fun, low-pressure journey with rewards and encouragement along the way.
How does the food journey work?
Your child works through foods one at a time. Each food must be tried a set number of times (you can adjust this in parent settings) before it's considered "conquered." Stars are earned for each attempt, and stars add up to levels, achievements, and unlockable rewards.
There's no pressure — even just smelling or touching a food counts as a win.
Can I set up profiles for multiple children?
Yes. You can create a separate profile for each child, each with their own journey, avatar, and progress. Switch between profiles from the Profile tab.
What are Bites?
Bites are the in-app currency your child earns by trying foods and completing journey milestones. Parents set up a Bites Shop with real-world rewards of their choosing — things like screen time, a special activity, or a small treat. Children spend their earned Bites on those rewards. The shop can be enabled or disabled in parent settings.
How do I protect the parent settings?
In the Settings tab, you can set a 4-digit PIN to prevent children from changing their own settings. You can also choose "honor system" mode if a PIN isn't needed.
How many times does a food need to be tried?
By default, each food needs to be tried 3 times to be fully conquered. You can change this to anywhere from 1 to 5 in parent settings to match your child's pace.
Is my child's data private?
Yes. All data is stored only on your device and is never sent to any server. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
What if I delete the app?
Deleting the app will permanently remove all profiles and progress. There is currently no cloud backup. If you need to reinstall, do so without deleting first, or use iPhone/iPad backup to preserve your data.
What is CHIP?
CHIP: Challenges Handled In Pieces is an app for breaking down overwhelming tasks into small, manageable steps. You describe what's weighing on you, and CHIP (with a little help from AI) breaks it into bite-sized chips you can actually tackle.
How does the AI breakdown work?
When you add a challenge, CHIP sends your description to a secure server which uses Anthropic's Claude AI to suggest a breakdown. The text of your challenge is used only to generate your response and is not stored or used for any other purpose.
Is there a limit to how many challenges I can break down?
Each device has a daily limit on AI-assisted breakdowns to keep the service running smoothly for everyone. You can still add and manage challenges manually without any limit.
What happens to my data if I delete the app?
All your challenges and chips are stored on your device. Deleting the app removes them permanently. Use iPhone/iPad backup to preserve your data before reinstalling.
